Poverty has a different effect on children than it does adults. According to Hans Olsen, writer of the article Breaking the Vicious Cycle of Child Poverty which was published in the New Straits Times in Malaysia on October 16, 2011, children that live in poverty have a lack not only physical resources but also lack spiritual and emotional resources that are needed to survive, grow, and flourish. 2. Child poverty spawns a cycle of poverty that is hard to break. It is hard for children that are born in poverty to change that situation and thus the cycle repeats. B. Poverty has spawned other huge problems in the world. Hunger and undernourishment is one byproduct of poverty. a. With no money to buy food and no government programs implemented to help support people that cannot buy food, naturally these families are going to go hungry. b. The quality of food that they can afford does not support healthy eating habits and thus most of them are undernourished which can lead to many health problems, weak immune systems, and stunted growth to a name a few. 2. A lack of health care is another problem created from poverty. This also ties in closely with being undernourished.
